As with many natural products, rose water has many benefits. Originating in the Middle East, it has been traditionally used for medicinal, culinary, and beauty purposes. As with most of my posts, this one will also be highlighting rose water’s many beauty benefits for hair and skin.

Made by distilling rose petals with steam, rose water has antioxidants and anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help treat diseases and free radicals in the body and on the skin. It is also full of vitamins, essential fatty acids, and minerals that are beneficial for the hair, scalp, and skin.

Now that many of us have started including this staple in our beauty routine, I would like to further expand on the uses and benefits of rose water.

5 Benefits of Rose Water for Skin

  • Maintains skin’s pH balance
  • Keeps acne at bay
  • Tones the skin (Toner)
  • Hydrates the skin
  • Possesses anti-aging properties

Incorporating rose water into your skincare regime means healthier and glowing skin. It aids in the improvement of your skin’s complexion by toning it, reducing redness in the skin, and maintaining the skin’s pH balance. Rose water’s anti-bacterial properties also help control excess oil, which keeps acne at bay. Further, its hydrating properties combat dryness, which can lead to premature wrinkles and aging.

5 Benefits of Rose Water for Hair

  • Nourishes the scalp and hair
  • Stabilizes your hair’s pH balance
  • Reduces dryness and controls frizz
  • Moisturizes
  • Promotes hair growth

When it comes to hair, rose water has nourishing and moisturizing properties which help improve the health, thickness, and shine of your hair. With its natural conditioning properties, it helps reduce dryness and controls frizz. It is also known to promote hair growth with the presence of vitamins A, B3, C, and E by nourishing the scalp whilst treating mild scalp inflammation and dandruff.

In addition to its benefits for hair and skin, rose water is a mood enhancer. It has antidepressant and anti-anxiety properties, which help in improving one’s mood and increasing relaxation.

MY EXPERIENCE:

I incorporate rose water into my daily beauty routine by using it as a facial mist, toner, and hair moisturizer. I have several do-it-yourself (DIY) variations of facial and hair mists that I use depending on the season and my skin and hair needs. All of these variations share a common base, which consists of Aloe Vera juice or gel combined with rose water.

Do It Yourself

Here’s my simple facial toner recipe.

What you will need:

Mix it all in a spray bottle and apply it to your face with a cotton pad as a toner after cleansing your face. Make sure to moisturize after.

Remember to maintain consistency in your routine or regimen, and over time, you will begin to see the desired results. I hope you found this blog post informative and enjoyable. If you found the information useful, feel free to share this post and leave a comment below.
