I found this brand-new tang jacket at my local thrift store and I instantly fell in love. Also known as the tangzhuang suit, it is a traditional Chinese jacket that features a straight collar. It is a front-closing jacket, ornate, with braided buttons known as the Chinese frog buttons. Traditionally, the tang jacket’s body and sleeves are made from one piece of fabric, without any stitches in between.
Composition
When it comes to the material, silk brocade is the favored fabric for the tang ju jacket. The choice of the fabric reflects the refinement, modesty, and calm nature of the Chinese people. Further, the popular and most common colors are red, green, gold, black, and navy blue.
About traditional Asian-inspired fashion, we are typically introduced to the Kimono. And on rare occasions, the traditional qipao dress. I wanted to highlight the characteristics of the tangzhuang jacket and the different ways to wear and style it.
Looks
The pictures shown are to give you different looks and ideas on how to style a traditional tang ju blazer. I paired my jacket up with a pair of jeans and a basic white T-shirt. The second outfit is styled with a little black dress. Lastly, the final look is paired with black shorts to diversify the looks. In turn, styling the tang jacket is easy to put together. While allowing you to add a pop of color and texture to your outfits. No matter how you plan to wear it, when considering a tang ju suit jacket to add to your closet, make sure the fit is close to the body.
As usual, I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog post. Make sure to share it with someone you love and give me your thoughts in the comment section below. Do you own any traditional Asian-inspired fashion items?

Other than the thrift shop, is there any other place where I can find a tang ju suit in Montreal?
